TMC candidates list for 42 Seats West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee releases TMC list of 42 candidates, alleges attempt to bribe voters. TMC chief Mamata Banerjee, while announcing candidates, stated there were 41 per cent women candidates on the list.
She also announced that TMC will contest Lok Sabha elections in some seats in Odisha, Assam, Jharkhand, Bihar and the one seat in Andaman as well. Banerjee also said that her party had formed an alliance with the Binay Tamang-led faction of Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) for the Darjeeling seat, which was won by BJP last time.
Banerjee also challenged all the political parties and said, “We have 41 per cent women candidates. Many speak of reservation for women. But we don’t need to announce this. This is a proud moment for us.” The TMC presently represents 32 Lok Sabha seats in the state and has set a target of winning all the 42 seats.
Besides the BJP, the TMC will also face the CPI(M) and the Congress, which will be fighting the polls in a seat sharing deal in the state. The party is locked in a bitter political battle with the BJP, which had made steady inroads in the state and has set the target of winning 23 Lok Sabha seats.
