Election Commission suspends poll officer, PM Narendra Modi’s chopper in Odisha, Election Commission for violating protocol by trying to inspect. The prime minister was stated to have been held up at the place for around 15 minutes because of the sudden checking, the official said.

As per reports, IAS officer Mohammed Mohsin, of the 1996-batch from Karnataka cadre, was handed suspension letter after he undertook a check of PM Modi’s helicopter in Sambalpur on Tuesday in violation of the norms.

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s helicopter was also checked by the personnel of the Election Commission flying squad in Rourkela on Tuesday. “The commission has considered the material available before it and, prima facie, has found dereliction of duty. It found Mohsin’s action was contrary to its instruction concerning SPG protectees,” the poll panel said in its order.
